Brake Pads
Stinger Brake Pads
Brake pads are a vital part of your Stinger's braking system, responsible for converting kinetic energy into heat to bring your car to a stop.
When you apply the brake pedal, hydraulic pressure forces the brake caliper to squeeze the brake pads against the rotating brake rotor, creating friction and slowing down the wheel's rotation. This friction generates heat, which is dissipated into the surrounding air.
Here are the most common types of brake pads:
- Organic Brake Pads: These are made from a mixture of organic materials, such as rubber, glass, and resin. They are known for providing smooth and quiet braking performance but may wear out faster than other types.
- Semi-Metallic Brake Pads: These pads contain a blend of metals, like copper, iron, and steel, mixed with friction materials. They offer excellent stopping power and durability but can produce more noise and generate more dust.
- Ceramic Brake Pads: Ceramic brake pads are made from ceramic fibers, bonding agents, and filler materials. They are favored for their low noise, minimal dust production, and consistent performance, especially in high-temperature conditions.
- Low-Metallic Brake Pads: These contain a small amount of metal fibers to enhance heat dissipation and improve braking performance. They strike a balance between semi-metallic and ceramic pads in terms of noise and dust production.
