If you’re modifying your Kona for more power or just want to ensure long-term reliability, upgrading the chargepipes is a smart and relatively affordable step. Chargepipes transfer compressed air from the turbochargers to the intercooler and then to the throttle body. This air is under high pressure and needs to move efficiently with minimal restriction or turbulence. The stock chargepipes on many turbocharged vehicles, including the Kona, are made of plastic or rubber, which can crack, split, or blow off under high boost pressure. Aftermarket chargepipes are typically aluminum or high-grade silicone, offering much greater durability.
